Charming Island Dining

Venture over the bridge onto Balboa Island and you’ll uncover a quaint, coastal gem – a Newport Beach neighborhood full of life! You’ll quickly acclimate to laid back, island life and settle into the small island situated on Newport Harbor. It won’t take long before you’re wishing that this wonderful piece of land were a place that you could call home. Storefronts line Marine Avenue, the haven of Balboa Island, and include a variety of boutique shops, coffee shops, restaurants and local treasures. The sidewalks that follow along the perimeter of the Island provide a front row, dreamlike visual of the Harbor and all of the activities available to visitors. Beyond the nautical storefront designs and the bustle on a typical day on Marine Avenue, Balboa Island is home to a variety of dishes bursting with flavor and an extraordinary line-up of restaurants that are a true representation of the “island life”.

Blue Chair BakeryBlue Chair Bakery is identifiable by their black and white striped storefront and cheerful red door. A variety of pastries line their front window – one quick glance and you’ll be tempted into a taste…or two. Blue Chair Bakery specializes in breakfast pastries, bread, and desserts – all made from scratch everyday. If you’re in search of something sweet, try their Cinnamon Rolls or Pecan Sticky Buns. Something salty on your mind? Their Rosemary Sea Salt Focaccia Bread is sure do the trick. The receipes used have been passed down through many generations of bakers and perfected for all Balboa Island visitors to enjoy!

Crocker’s “The Well Dressed Frank” is a popular spot with a great selection of hamburgers, sandwiches and of course, hot dogs. Served fresh and hot, the food is made to order and delicious. Using the freshest ingredients, Crocker’s turns ordinary American favorites into masterpieces that keep people craving the food and going out of their way for more. The garlic fries are crispy, hot and covered perfectly with all of the right toppings. Mr G'sMr G’s Bistro has many of the islanders venturing out to enjoy this new addition to Marine Avenue. Inspired by the nostalgic feelings of an Italian Sunday supper with friends and family, Mr G’s serves up noteworthy dishes and warm hospitality. After enjoying lunch or dinner at this delicious location, you won’t be able to stop thinking about the incredible meal you enjoyed. Their meatball is the talk of the town – flavorful, bold and delicious! Mr G’s is a friendly mecca known for their tasty dishes, attentive wait staff and iconic location.

Picante Martin'sPicante Martins, identifiable by the pink overhang that adorns the restaurant, serves up fresh, authentic Mexican food at an unbelievable price. Their $2 dollar crispy taco Tuesday menu and $2 soft taco Thursday menu will have you planning on Mexican food multiple times during the week. Looking for a hearty, quick and easy breakfast? Picante Martins has the perfect breakfast burrito for you. This restaurant truly is a beloved, local favorite.
